Position Purpose: The Financial Analyst supports learning by providing financial and analytical support to the Office of Finance to provision university-wide reporting, planning, and decision-making.

Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers of our service, learns and uses operating practices of the department and Aurora University.

Supports learning through performance of essential job functions and performing other duties and functions as necessary or as assigned.
Essential Job Functions: Provides assistance and analysis for the Office of Finance on a wide range of fiscal and operational issues while maintaining a climate of confidentiality.
Assists in the preparation and administration of the annual budget by reviewing and analyzing programmatic or divisional projections and by preparing various budget oversight reports throughout the year.
Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures to include policy review and regular updates.
Oversees cash management to include tracking of cash receipts and disbursements to ensure operational and capital cash balances are maintained at sufficient levels to support the university’s objectives.
Assists with risk management responsibilities including, but not limited to, review of clinical and experiential learning site affiliation agreements, review of waivers for various campus student events.
and assistance with the university insurance program.
Assists with contract review and adherence to terms and conditions including ensuring correct insurance minimum coverage limits are maintained.
Serves as project manager for various strategic initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other related field.
Experience: 3-5 years of professional finance or accounting experience with a complex organization.
Skills: Experience with automated financial systems, complex spreadsheets, databases, and database query tools.
Ability to maintain the highest confidentiality of information and materials.
Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills combined with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to coordinate and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals at all levels within the university and external constituencies.
Tolerance for ambiguity and uncertainty while being able to move projects forward.
Physical Requirements: Ability to move about campus.
Ability to interact via telephone, in person, and via electronic media.
Ability to work at a desk on-campus for extended periods of time.
