*The role* The role of the Financial Accountant is a key appointment to the US finance team, which forms part of the wider global finance team.
The reporting team is responsible for ensuring our underlying ledgers are accurate, preparing the management accounts for our holding companies, overseeing corporation tax compliance and managing our external stakeholder reporting (including auditors, investors and banks).
The role reports directly into our US Controller.
The Financial Accountant role will entail the posting of journals and preparation/review of balance sheet reconciliations on a day-to-day basis.
You will work with the wider finance team to ensure timely and accurate numbers are prepared in line with pre-agreed timetables.
*Main Responsibilities* Some of the key responsibilities for this new Financial Accountant role are: * Reviewing general ledger accounts and posting the necessary journals (eg prepayment/accruals/payroll) to ensure an accurate trial balance.
* Having two way dialogue with the US FP&A team and wider business on the general ledger balances to ensure an accurate trial balance.
* Accounting for stock and performing revaluations in line with our accounting policies.
* Preparing intercompany recharges.
* Supporting US corporate tax compliance.
* Supporting US sales tax compliance.
* Preparing tax journals and agreeing tax calculations with third party advisors.
* Preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
* Supporting the US Controller and Group Financial Controller in our year end audit and statutory accounts preparation.
* Deputising for the US Controller.
* Liaise with third parties and advisors including banks, suppliers and accountants (including auditors and tax advisors).
* Constant process improvement, reducing reporting time frames and increasing the quality of management information and our control environment.
* Assist in reviewing finance processes and systems, make suggestions for improvements and support implementation.
* Train and mentor the US Accounts Assistants.
* Other ad-hoc duties as required.
Person specification and prior experience The successful individual will have completed a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
They will possess 2+ years experience preparing or management/financial accounts, gained through having worked in similar roles or an accounting practice (CPA certification preferred but not required).
The nature of the role means the individual will need to demonstrate a highly methodical approach to work.
This methodical approach will manifest in excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
To excel in the role, you will perform tasks with extreme accuracy, taking pride in your work.
This will lead to constant self-reviewing of your own work.
Given the importance of the role to the core finance function, you will be working with colleagues in our team both in the US and in the UK and across the wider business.
You will therefore need to be an excellent communicator, proactively tackling issues and advising the business of any issues or challenges.
Beyond being an effective communicator, you will enjoy working in a team environment.
As a fast growing, private equity backed business, we have tight deadlines.
We must work together effectively to ensure fast and accurate reporting.

Given the complexity of our business and our desire for high quality output the individual will also need to possess: * Strong MS Excel skills * Experience of using finance systems (eg accounting packages) * High standards of accuracy Our business is a fast growing, private equity backed business.
Prior exposure to this environment (eg Private Equity backed businesses, M&A etc) will be advantageous but is not essential.
It is essential however that you can work in a fast moving environment.
You will therefore need to be resilient and flexible.
The individual will therefore need to be flexible in terms of hours worked in peak periods.
