Posting Identification Number 33681 Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a candidate to serve as an Account Technician I t work at the Sheridan Correctional Center in the Business Office.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, task oriented, has excellent organizational skills, show great attention to detail and is a team player.
This position serves as Trust Fund Officer for the Inmate Trust Fund.
Responsibilities include updating individual in custody accounts in the Fund and Accounting and Commissary Trading System (FACTS) and reconciling accounts.

Job Responsibilities Maintains a complex set of books for individuals in custody within the Inmate Trust Fund utilizing the Funds Account and Commissary Trading System (FACTS).
Coordinates and performs technical accounting work for Travel and Allowance fund disbursement for discharged or paroled individuals in custody.
Writes checks from individuals in custody Trust Fund System.
Completes monthly payroll computer posting of all individuals in custody into the Inmate Trust Fund.
Posts restrictions against individuals in custody accounts upon receipt of IDOC 0047 (Response to Individual in Custody’s Grievance form) from Programs and Adjustment Committees.
Assists other Business Office staff in the performance of duties and serves as back up to other Account Technician I’s.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course or three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the state requirements for this classification.
Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience maintaining a complex set of accounting books.
Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience posting to accounts.
Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience reconciling accounts with an accurate balance.
Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience preparing reports regarding Trust Fund accounts.
Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience producing end of the month general ledger accounts.
Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience closing accounts.
Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience applying state/non-state accounting procedures and techniques.
Prefers at least one (1) year of work experience following office methods and procedures.
Prefers at least one (1) year work experience applying principles/functions of standard office accounting machines and equipment.
