POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for performing and updating daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual audits.
Reviews Branch operations for evidence of fraud, deficiencies in controls, errors, extravagance, or noncompliance with established policies.
Performs such audit functions as balancing, reconciling, verifying, sampling, evaluating, reviewing, and confirming in such areas as exchange items, loans, savings, checking accounts, cash, and overall Branch security.
Prepares reports and makes recommendations for corrective actions.
Conducts operational audits as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1.
Assumes responsibility for the accurate and effective performance of Branch audits.
a.
Performs daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual Branch audits and reviews as necessary.
b.
Interviews Branch personnel to gather information and determine compliance with established procedures.
c.
Conducts cash counts involving teller balancing, balancing Branch cash, and reviewing cash controls and security.
d.
Performs various audit functions including balancing, reconciling, verifying, sampling, confirming, evaluating, and reviewing of such Credit Union products and services as money orders, loan accounts and collateral, CDs, member accounts, dormant accounts, fees charged, overdrafts, etc.
Reviews Branch documentation.

Reviews Branch policies and procedures to ensure effective and appropriate implementation.
f.
Reviews Branch security procedures for appropriate implementation including oversight of opening and closing procedures, balancing, and cash protection.
2.
Assumes responsibility for effective audit reporting and planning as assigned.
a.
Prepares audit reports outlining the scope of each audit and its results, and recommending corrective measures as necessary.
Assembles and maintains work papers in the prescribed manner.
b.
Participates in the development of new or improved Branch audit programs as requested.
Assists in developing audit procedures and makes recommendations regarding what is to be audited, the methods to be used, and the frequency of audits.
Assists in establishing or revising Branch control procedures to ensure the adequate protection of Credit Union assets.
c.
Presents audit results as required and explains suggested recommendations.
3.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and management.
a.
Assists other Audit Department personnel as required.
b.
Provides assistance and support to Branch personnel.
c.
Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.
d.
Attends meetings as required including reporting to Supervisory Committee.
e.
Completes reports, records, and documents accurately and promptly.
4.
Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relationships are established and maintained with the community, Credit Union members, other financial institutions, and audit professionals.
a.
Maintains the Credit Union's professional reputation, both internally and externally.
Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
b.
Resolves requests, complaints, or problems promptly.
c.
Represents the Credit Union in contacts with business and trade associations and otherwise promotes the Credit Union's image.
5.
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
a.
Assists with or performs special investigations or audits as assigned.
b.
Stays informed of trends and developments in the auditing field.
c.
Assists with the effective and timely performance and oversight of records and imaging functions.
