Assistant Principal (BH) 23/24 SY JobID: 13987 Date Posted: 3/20/2024 Location: Boulder Hill Elementary School Job Title: Assistant Principal Location: Boulder Hill Elementary Division / Department: Educational Services Reports to: Principal/Director of English Language Learners Level / Grade: Certified Administrator Type of Position: Full - time Hours / Work Year: Exempt / 10 mont -206 Days General Description: Assistant Principal assists the Principal in providing school-wide leadership; helps students achieve the fullest benefits from both academic and non-academic programs, services, and opportunities of the school; prepares students, through personal contact, and through services offered to them for a responsible position in society by promoting fair play, regular school attendance and self-discipline, by maintaining a climate that enhances and supports meaningful school experiences, and by developing harmonious and effective community participation in school affairs.
In addition to sharing duties with the full-time Assistant Principal, this position will have a strong focus on serving the staff, students and families of the Dual Language program.
Performance Responsibilities: Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school Serves with parent, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal Enforces the district discipline policies as established by the Board of Education as well as those mandated by the Illinois School Code and Illinois statutes Provides accurate documentation as required in all cases affecting the safety of students and/or welfare of the school Assists in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions Assists in student orientation in regard to discipline and attendance problems.
Assists in staff development and evaluation activities Participates in the coordination, implementation, scheduling, and supervision of extra-curricular activities.
Works with community and government agencies on problems relating to substance abuse and truancy from school Assists in planning emergency procedures Assists in the evaluation of teachers as assigned by the principal Assists with campus supervision Oversees building and grounds Oversees student activities and help develop the calendar Proposes schedules of classes and extracurricular activities Performs such recordkeeping functions as the principal may direct Works with department chairs and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests Utilizes discipline tasks such as suspension, probation, and other in accordance with due process procedures Develops and monitors the building budget Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment, conducts inventories, maintains records and checks on receipts for such material Collaborates with the Director of English Learners to plan, develop, and implement the Dual Language program Assists in curriculum development, resource selection, and assessment strategies to enhance Dual Language program effectiveness Monitors Dual Language program compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and accreditation standards Oversees the process for Dual Language student recruitment and enrollment Organizes events, workshops, and informational sessions related to the Dual Language program Supports professional development opportunities for staff involved in the Dual Language program Collaborates with the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee to plan yearly events and meetings Cultivates positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider community to enhance the Dual Language program's effectiveness and ensure stakeholder buy-in Coordinates and facilitates communication to keep stakeholders informed about the Dual Language program activities and progress Supports the English Learner budget/grant management Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative and Bilingual-Spanish Endorsement Leadership Experience preferred in Dual Language or Dual Language Teaching experience Experience in Dual Language education, program coordination, or a related educational role Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with a focus on improving program outcomes Five years of teaching experience, at least one year of which is at the level assigned Prior administrative experience preferred Collaborative leadership skills Knowledge of strategic planning and school scheduling Knowledge of curriculum and best instructional practices Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness Strong technological competency Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively.
