Early 1900s Antique Railroad Map Cabinet Chest 6 Drawers Maps Brass State Pulls Beautiful genuine railroad map case with Railroad maps affixed to each drawer.
Rand McNally maps are coded 11N28 (1932) and 7R28 and 7R30 (1937) but the cabinet is older.
Newer maps have replaced or been overlayed older maps.
MN for example has a Clason's map behind it which may date to the early 1910s? This case is very well constructed and there is a sense of quality in the drawers and how they fit.
The map cabinet dimensions are 29" x 21.
5" x 8" (6 drawer) not counting the base.
The base has a nice appearance and is a newer made then the cabinet itself, and is similar dimensions as the cabinet itself.
The 6 drawers each have a railroad map and all are affixed to the drawer and are in fair, very used condition with marks and damages to the maps as photos show in more detail.
The bottom of each drawer has some sort of smooth worn lining.
All Maps have some writing marks and damage and seems these were markings of someone in the railroad business actually using these maps on a regular basis.
All Maps are Rand McNally on the top although MN shows a Clason's map is underneath.
MN - 7R28 IA - 11N28 Ink stains MT - No date code visible ND - 7R28 SD - 7R28 WI - 7R30 Very neat old brass pulls with state names written out.
The base is 4 walls, no top nor bottom, and the map cabinet fits well on it.
Comes with a heavy glass top which has some scratches if you look close at the photo reflections, but, those are not too visible when the glass is installed on the cabinet.
