The Life Enrichment Director is responsible for the planning, developing and directing a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meet the social, educational and recreational needs of the resident population in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee the delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote patient opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
Develop/Coordinate activities that jointly include the community, staff, families and patients.
Complete monthly calendar of available activity/recreational programs and post in the facility.
Encourage patient participation in group and individual activities.
Ensure regulatory requirement compliance with department documentation.
Ensure that needed activity supplies are on hand to conduct scheduled activities.
Adhere to the budget guidelines for the department.
Maintain appropriate records pertaining to the department budget; monitor and control cost expenditures.
Organize and supervise department including selection, orientation, monitoring, scheduling and training of Activity aide employees.
Organize and supervise facility volunteer program including recruiting, selection, orientation, monitoring, scheduling and training volunteers.
Organize Resident Council Meetings.
Serve as a resource person for new residents.
Assure that all necessary documents are completed.
Prepare and maintain required reports, records, studies and surveys.
Attend in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
Coordinate services with other departments and involve other departments in activities as applicable.
Assess resident needs and develop resident activities goals for the written care plan.
Review resident goals and progress notes.
Properly document MDS reports and progress notes.
Attend care plan meetings, QAPI, and department head meetings as necessary.
Monitor, evaluate and share customer satisfaction information with leadership team.
Develop action plans as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:
Degree in recreational therapy and/or Activity Director Certification required.
• At least two years experience in geriatrics, recreation or social administration.
• Strong Interpersonal skills • Excellent verbal, organizational and communication skills • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive/confidential information • Strong computer skills • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and time management skills.
