Position Title: Veterinary Technician Trainer
VCA Aurora Animal Hospital recognizes the crucial role our medical support staff plays in ensuring exceptional patient care.
We place a high value on these roles and are actively seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our esteemed Training and Development Team.
As a key contributor to the growth and proficiency of our veterinary team, this role is dedicated to training and mentoring both Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants.
Shaping the skills and expertise of our team members is vital, and investing in their training and mentorship is integral not only to their individual success but also to overall patient care.
Responsibilities of the Veterinary Technician Trainer:
The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen.
Training and Development:
Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants.
Conduct on-the-job training sessions to ensure team members acquire necessary skills and knowledge.
Mentorship:
Provide ongoing mentorship to Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants, fostering a positive learning environment.
Offer guidance and support for professional growth and career advancement.
Performance Evaluation:
Collaborate with the Director of Training to assess trainee performance and provide constructive feedback.
Assist in the development of performance improvement plans as needed.
Resource Development:
Create and maintain educational resources, manuals, and materials for ongoing reference.
Collaborate with the training team to enhance the overall training curriculum.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless integration of training and mentoring initiatives.
Collaborate with the Director of Training to align training goals.
Professional Development:
Stay informed about the latest advancements in veterinary medicine and training techniques.
Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance personal and professional development.
Qualifications:
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to adapt training methods to various learning styles.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
5+ years of experience in emergency or specialty medicine.
Strong skills and knowledge of anesthesia protocols, monitoring, and recovery.
Reporting Structure:
The Veterinary Technician Trainer will report directly to the Technician Training and Development Coordinator.
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional modifications to accommodate training with our 24-hour staff.

This is an onsite position at VCA Aurora Animal Hospital.
