000100 Shift: Days Location: COAL CITY Summary: The Diagnostic Tech II provides health care services applying ionizing radiation to assist in diagnosis or treatment of disease.
Performs diagnostic radiology procedures utilizing related techniques to produce images and radiographs for the interpretation by a Radiologist.
Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics.
Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
Adjusts daily operation to meet the needs of a changing work environment.
The Diagnostic Tech II must be competent in registering, scheduling, insurance Medicare/Medicaid compliance and strong customer service skills.
Will accurately collect, analyze and record demographic, insurance/financial and clinical data from multiple sources, and obtain other informatino and signatures necessary for registrations and billing.
Effectively screens for compliance w/payer requirements for medical necessity and completes thrid-party eligibility and benefit verificatin to ensure accurate payment is secured.
Operates point of care laboratory equipment and knowledge of process.
Experience/Education Requirements: Experienced in medical imaging technology demonstrating competency to successfully complete diagnostic radiology procedures and maintain additional education in radiographic anatomy, preferred.
License or Certification Requirements: Graduate of AMA and accredited program in medical imaging and registry eligible.
IEMA required in Radiologic Technology (RT) within 6 months of hire ARRT (RT) preferred Responsibilities: Available and takes call Assists Radiologist and licensed practitioner with the set up and performance of fluoroscopic procedures.
Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
Cleans and stocks rooms, blanket warmers Completes exams, including docuemntation in MRM, PACS Documents a thorough patients clinical history in appropriate location Enters orders into MRM, uses correct account number Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters prior to submission to radiologist Explain tests to patients Immobilizes patient as required for appropriate examination.
Maintains archival storage of digitized images as appropriate.
Makes CD's & film copies as needed.
Performs high quality diagnostic radiographic procedures.
Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest.
Reduces patient wait times Reports immediately equipments malfunctions to appropriate areas Selects and operates radiographic equipment, imaging and/or associated accessories.
Determines radiographic technique exposure factors.

Other information: Exposure/Sensory Requirements: Exposure to: Chemicals: Diagnostic technologist will be working with chemicals used with the processing of x-ray film.
Video Display Terminals: Average Blood and Body Fluids: Diagnostic Technologist may be responsible for injection of contract media as part of their job function.
They will assist the Radiologist in interventional procedures and perform other radiographic procedures that may cause contact with body fluids in this modality.
TB or Airborne Pathogens: Diagnostic Technologist will be in direct contact with patients and have potential of normal exposure to airborne pathogens.
Sensory requirements (speech, vision, smell, hearing, touch): Speech: Required to communicate with patient regarding education, pre-procedure history information, procedure manipulation, and post-procedure instructions.
Vision: Needed to identify, from radiograph, the autonomy and manipulate for correct density and contract levels for the proper filming technique.
Constant visual contact with patient to assure proper positioning of patient and for patient safety.
Smell: Helpful to note presence of electrical/fire safety.
Hearing: Needed for obtaining patient education and understanding of procedure and history information gathering.
Touch: Needed for operating computer equipment in keyboarding of entry and/or other functions for communication of information necessary for patient care.

Need to lift boxes of paper when rethreading printers and lifting report holders from above cabinets, carried for approximately 10'.
May also need to assist patients from wheelchair on to and off of procedure tables.
